The only requests my grandmothers ever make are for pictures. Pictures, pictures, pictures. This may sound like a simple request but I have a deep-seeded aversion to anything having to do with hard copies and/or the post office. My mother is the same way so I cannot take responsibility for this character flaw.
Like you, I have many digital photos. I suspect one of the difficulties for me in turning a digital image into a hard copy is that I can never decide which one to print. So I print none.
I am also an avid Instagram
user lover so when I stumbled upon Stickygram.com, an online service that turns your artistic Instagram photos into adorable magnets, I instagramly thought this would be easy for someone like me to send the perfect gift to her adoring grandmothers. Besides, grandmothers still have refrigerators that actually have magnetic doors.
Stickygram.com is so clever and so simple and you get nine Instagram-sized magnets for $14.99 (shipping is free). The service automatically connects to your Instagram account and you just click on your photos to add them to your cart. It’s ridiculously easy and simple. And since your Instagram account probably doesn’t have thousands of photos, it makes it a lot easier to choose.
If you don’t have an Instagram account, just download the App and upload any of your existing photos. It’s addictive and you’ll feel like a photographic genius.
Here is my first batch of Stickygram.com magnets:
This would also be a great gift if you had a lot of people on your Christmas/Hanukah list. Use one special picture for all nine squares, wrap each magnet individually in a pretty little pouch, tie a ribbon and your little thought will be remembered forever. $14.99 for 9 little gifts. This is what my daughter is doing for all her Kindergarten classmates this year. She will take the picture so that it’s meaningful to her and her friends. I’ll let you know how it goes. Or you can just follow @nolaParent on Instagram. Warning: there will be times when the photos are not parent-related because, well, wine is involved.
Do you have any crafty holiday gift ideas? Will you share them?
