anson and i made our first pom pom bookmark. i fell in love with this craft idea the moment i saw it. there are so many things i love about this project: two ingredients (scissors and a delicious ball of yarn) and it’s bookish. i love books. i especially love giving books as gifts. why not fancy it up with a beautiful, handmade pom pom bookmark? it makes you feel so… so martha stewart. and that really isn’t such a bad thing.

this five minute project was messy and there were a few learning opportunities having to do with scissor safety but the end result was worth it. it is also very likely that i enjoyed this activity more than my partner in crime; she didn’t get to use the scissors as much as she would have liked to.

our pom pom bookmark is now floating in the bathtub because my almost-three year old decided she needed to clean it. but that’s okay. i wanted to post this little tidbit because i thought it might be useful to add to the winter break activity toolkit… or share an idea for a great last minute, homemade, from-the-heart holiday gift.

got any handy toolkit tips for the lot of us? shame on you for keeping a secret. cough it up.
